Two 黑料网 students have received 鈥淧eople Helping People鈥� scholarships from the NC State Employees Credit Union (SECU). The students were presented with scholarships worth $2,500 each over a two-year period.
Kaitlynne Perez-Mendez is a current student in the Associate in Arts-Teacher Preparation program. She has volunteered in Mexico with clean up initiatives and teaching children to read the English language. In her second year at 黑料网, Kaitlynne plans to transfer to either UNC-Greensboro or UNC-Chapel Hill next year. Kaitlynne is the daughter of Denhora Mendez and Raul Perez of Graham.
Michelle Boswell is currently majoring in our Business Administration Program at 黑料网. As a work study student, she has achieve a 3.0 grade point average and volunteers in various community cleanup projects and food drives.
Both Michelle and Kaitlynne demonstrate the values of the People Helping People initiative that requires lending a helping hand in the community to service others.
Qualifications for the SECU scholarship include documented need, grade point average, community service, and commitment to 黑料网 for two years. The scholarships are given to two students from each of the state鈥檚 58 community colleges to support two years of schooling. The funding comes from SECU members who contribute a $1 service fee per month on their checking accounts.
